WICHITA, KS, December 9, 2022 – Marcus & Millichap (NYSE: MMI), a leading commercial real estate brokerage firm specializing in investment sales, financing, research and advisory services, announced today the sale of Canterbury Inn, a 97-room hospitality property located in Wichita, Kansas, according to Timothy A. Speck, regional manager of the firm’s Dallas office and broker of record for Texas and Oklahoma.
Hussain Shaik, associate, in Marcus & Millichap’s Dallas office, had the exclusive listing to market the property on behalf of the seller, Mr. Amzad Chowdhury. The buyer, a private investor, was secured and represented by Skyler Cooper, senior vice president, in Marcus & Millichap’s Dallas office with Colby Haugness, broker of record for Kansas, aiding in closing this transaction. Chris Gomes, senior managing director, and Allan Miller, senior vice president, in Marcus & Millichap’s Dallas and Austin offices, respectively, were also listed on the deal as supporting brokers.
“This was a challenging deal to sale from the beginning due to the no brand affiliation, age, and size of the hotel,” Chowdhury explained. “But my agent, Hussain was instrumental in properly pricing and marketing the hotel nationwide, bringing qualified offers, and quickly putting the hotel under contract. He has efficiently managed the escrow process, constantly communicated with all parties to overcome obstacles, and successfully closed the deal without any hiccup.” Chowdhury elaborated that “no matter what time or day I called, emailed, or texted, he would always respond instantly,” concluding that it was an “overall great experience working with Marcus Millichap MG Hotel team, especially Hussain.”
Canterbury Inn is located at 5805 W Kellogg Dr in Wichita, Kansas. The 97-room hotel was built in 1965 and spans 3.9 acres.
